Andaluces por el mundo travels to Madagascar island

18 / 06 / 10

We travel to Indic Ocean, to an island more than 80 million years old and which is the fourth biggest in the world: Madagascar.

More than two thousands years ago arrived at Madagascar its first inhabitants, from Indonesia and not from Africa. The mixture of the two cultures caused the existence of 18 different ethnic groups in the whole island. The Asiatic features and traditions can be noticed in every Malgate and also in the language and gastronomy.

Due to its isolation, Madagascar is a vegetal and animal Noah´s Ark and that can be appreciated in its fauna and flora. The famous baobabs and the odd lemurs are some of the country species. But children are in the spotlight. More than 50% of Madagascar population is under 18.
