A piece of news in TV section of national newspaper ‘Publico’ emphasises about ‘Madrid Directo’ that “one of the keys of its success is the closeness to the spectator”. The newspaper stands out that the format carried out by Ricardo Medina, based on live information, current issues and public service, makes this type of programme different from the contents of the rest of TV channels.
Ricardo Medina, Medina Media creator and CEO, carried out Madrid Directo in 1993 for Telemadrid after travelling to United States and putting into practice a formula that, 17 years after, is still successful.
All the regional TV channels have developed gradually this format to include it in daily evening slot. Other TV channels like ETB-2 (Live Euskadi) or TVG (Review) have also included it in the morning slot. These variety programmes have created a recognisable image for loyal audience.
